We received official news about the Seoul Metropolitan library (Dongdaemun) design competition where our entry finalized in the <3rd place> during the second stage, where we competed with another 4 teams.
This was a tight competition since the first stage where the design committee reported the registration of more than 419 teams (243 teams in Korea, 176 teams from 45 countries abroad) completed the registration, and the final application for the first stage was completed by 116 teams, including 64 teams in Korea and 52 teams from 25 countries.
Our proposal envisioned a foldable surface integrating a big plaza with a series of structures inviting visitors to explore the microcosm of activity that the library offers. The smart systems were also ubiquitous, from the smart archive to the facade and robots supporting all sorts of activities, this was a main feature that reflects the very essence of Seoul as a city where innovation and technology keeps a special role.
