평택중앙도서관 건립사업 국제설계공모 Central Library of Pyeongtaek International Design Competition
🥈Second Prize – Central Library of Pyeongtaek International Design Competition.
At Rurban Group, we had the privilege of joining forces with Studio Contrapposto SAS (Colombia) + YOAP architects (Korea) as advisors in the design of the new Central Library of Pyeongtaek.
This was more than a competition for us — it was a chance to propose a different way of thinking about public buildings in Korea. A library not as an isolated landmark, but as an open, inviting space immersed in nature, blending seamlessly with its park surroundings. A project we deeply believe in — a “living room for the community,” “a personal study,” and “a cultural shelter for families.” Designed for timeless values, for quiet reflection, and for a stronger connection between people, books, and landscape.
Yes, we came in second. So there’s a bit of that bittersweet feeling.
But we are incredibly proud to stand with two bold and visionary teams from Korea and Colombia, showcasing what contemporary architecture can be.
New projects are on the horizon — and we’re just getting started.
